• Question: Would it be possible to build a society on the moon? If so, could we create an oxygen barrier so we can breathe without need for oxygen tanks?

      Hey,

Sometime in the future we might have enough technology to do it. We would need to take lots of plants there to make the oxygen for us.
We would have to have an underground society though because the moon has a few problems that make livingm on the surface difficult – the temperature ranges from -233 °C at night to 123 °C in the day, too cold and too hot for the life on earth to survive, and the moon has no magnetic field to protect it from all the radiation that comes from outer space.

      Hi,

I think there will be a permanent base on the moon at some point. We will use it as a staging post and training for missions further in to space (like the Mars mission) as well as to harness solar energy which will be beamed backed to Earth.

I think something like the Eden project domes (only the size of small towns) will be built that will control the temperature and provide us with oxygen to breath as well as allow us to grow plants and protect us from the suns radiation!
