      Hi,

      The stratosphere is part of the Earth’s atmosphere, so it’s a sphere because it surrounds the Earth, which is also a sphere shape.

      The ozone layer is in the stratosphere so this is where a lot of dangerous ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun is blocked, stopping us all getting skin cancer. At the very bottom of the stratosphere is where aeroplanes fly too.
