Solar cars will probably have to carry some form of battery that is charged when it is sunny, otherwise they would stop when it gets too cloudy or your drive into a tunnel. Depending on the battery, they could last for a limited amount of time without sun but yes, without sun for long periods of time, they would not work. These cars would probably have to be hybrids meaning that they also have convensional fuel systems for these cases.

      Hey,

Solar cars would use sunlight to charge up, then you can drive them. If there isn’t any sun and you’ve run out of battery, you won’t be able to drive. Fortunately it doesn’t have to be a really bright sunny day for the solar panels to work and gather energy, so unless you spend too long parked in a garage, you should be fine in a solar car.
