      Hey,

I haven’t broken anything yet fortunately, and I hope I don’t because it probably does hurt a lot
Just after someone breaks a bone, the brain tries to stop it from hurting too much by producing chemicals called endorphins that stop the pain. In the wild this gives you a chance to get away from whatever broke your bone (like an animal attack) before the pain sets in.

      Hi,

Yes I have. Several. I’ve broken my nose 3 times (because of karate and capoeira), i broke my left arm on the first day of secondary school playing football with my older brother, and when I was 11 I had a really bad break of my right wrist when I was trying to be cool by jumping off from high garages 🙁

It does really hurt, especially the right wrist break. I don’t remember the effects of endorphins kicking in, mainly shock and then pain!
One thing that was funny to think back on now (but not at the time) was that when I broke my right wrist, my friend’s mum put my arm in a sink of cold water! This hurt even more than the actual broken bone :-0!

I lost the function of my hand for a while but was determined to get it back for my martial arts training and worked hard on the physiotherapy. The medical staff were brilliant and helped me to a full recovery!
